About Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome. In Yosemite Village are shops, restaurants, lodging, the Yosemite Museum and the Ansel Adams Gallery, with prints of the photographer’s renowned black-and-white landscapes of the area. Yosemite Valley has been the site for almost every major development in the sport of rock climbing and continues to be a place where world-class climbers are honing their skills, breaking records and changing our understanding of what is possible for human strength and endurance.
Your tour guide will begin your Yosemite Climbing Workshop at your campsite by issuing and providing safety instructions for your gear. Your guide will also give you a run down of the weather conditions for your upcoming climbs. You and your group will then hike with your guide into the Yosemite valley for the day where you will practise valuable skills, assess conditions and skills and get prepared for the climbs to follow throughout the week. You will end your workshop with emergency training and team building exercises.
This climb is a lot of fun and is the perfect first climb for you and your group to experience during your Yosemite climbing expedition.
Mist Trail Hike to Half Dome
While the physical ascent of Half Dome takes between 10 and 12 hours, this climb is going to be completed over a 2 day period, with the first day being a guided hike through Little Yosemite Valley and up the Mist Trail. This hike follows the Merced River and is jam packed with stunning sites, including the Vernal Fall, Emerald Pool and Nevada Fall. You will set up camp at the base of Half Dome.
This full day climb is strenuous and will push you to your limits with it’s estimated 10 to 12 hour climb time. From the top you can expect panoramic views of Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra.
